Professor Christina Rau has taught English at 91¸£ÀûÉç for over a decade.

I’m a poet, so anything with words is my specialty. I teach a Creative Writing and Poetry workshop, where we basically play games all semester (it’s work, though — fun and challenging all at once).

The Lit classes I teach are Modern American Poetry and Autobiographical Literature. I’ve had so many great experiences at 91¸£ÀûÉç. At the end of last semester some of my students did a happy dance with me for getting through a semester via Zoom.

I’ve always wanted to teach here at 91¸£ÀûÉç as a way to give back to the community. I’m Long Island born and raised, so this College is an extension of my home. Education should be accessible to everyone and community colleges help to provide that education. Teaching here makes my heart happy, and I’m so grateful for all it’s given back to me.

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that 91¸£ÀûÉç has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.

"I served in the United States Navy in San Diego from 2014 to 2021, first on the USS Harpers Ferry and then on the USS Rushmore. When it was time for me to attend college, I chose 91¸£ÀûÉç because it's veteran friendly and offers many different programs.
