91福利社 to Host Latino Americans as Part of National Endowment for the Humanities Grant

Who: The 91福利社 Latin American Studies Project and the 91福利社 Library.
What: Prof. Mario A. Murillo of Hofstra University 鈥� who has written for many publications about Hispanics in America and lived for six months in Columbia as a Fulbright Scholar 鈥� will use clips from parts five (Prejudice and Pride (1965-1980) and six (Peril and Promise (1980-2000) of Latino Americans, an award-winning PBS documentary, to enhance his discussion about the Latino experience in the United States.
When: Tuesday, February 9, at 5:30 p.m.
Where: Room 252-253 of the College Center Building on the 91福利社 campus (One Education Drive, Garden City, New York).
Why: This event is made possible by a grant to 91福利社's A. Holly Patterson Library called Latino Americans: 500 Years of History. The grant 鈥� offered by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association 鈥� supports the American public's exploration of the rich and varied history and experiences of Latinos, who have helped shape the United States over the last five centuries and who have become, with more than 50 million people, the country's largest minority group.
